At a dinner held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Hotel X Toronto, Skyscanner unveiled its Travel Trends 2026 report, offering insights into how Canadians will travel in the year ahead.

The event brought together travel media from across Canada, along with special guests Dr. Jiyeh Joo of Rejoo Clinic and Lauren Moore of Book Huddle.

According to the report, travel in 2026 will be driven by self-expression and personal purpose, with Canadians increasingly seeking experiences that reflect their interests and identities.

According to a OnePoll study of 1,000 Canadian travellers, combined with Skyscanner’s global booking data, the report highlights key changes shaping travel behaviours for next year, including “Glowmads” and “Bookbound.”

Featured Trends

“Glowmads” reflects the growing popularity of beauty- and wellness-focused travel, in which skincare rituals, spa experiences, and aesthetic treatments are part of the itinerary.

At the event, Dr. Joo discussed how travellers are combining exploration with self-care and wellness routines through trips to Seoul, South Korea.

“Bookbound” showcases how book lovers are incorporating reading and literary experiences into their journeys.
Guest speaker Moore said that many travellers now seek destinations rich in local storytelling, reading retreats, and book-themed accommodations.

Other emerging trends include “Family Miles,” which focuses on trips for families of different generations; “Altitude Shift,” for mountain getaways; and “Destination Check-In,” which features stays where the accommodation is the primary attraction.

According to Skyscanner’s data, 28 percent of Canadians plan to take a family trip next year, while 24 percent prioritize unique lodging options that define the trip itself.

Skyscanner describes these identified trends as part of a broader shift toward “made-for-me travel,” emphasizing personalization, meaning, and discovery.
